The Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum welcomed 14 participants of the selection round of the Zafar collection contest announced by Azerkhalcha. Dr Shirin Melikova, Museum Director and contest instructor greeted young artists and provided detailed information about the museum, its permanent exhibition, international contests, inclusive programs, and other projects.
Later, participants visited the museum's Traditional Technologies Department. The traditional carpet technologies applied and revived here were met with great interest. Taryer Bashirov, the museum's Chief Artist showed the guests the final sketch of the Zafar carpet and its weaving process. Dr Melikova and Taryer Bashirov spoke about the composition, idea, and project creation of the Zafar carpet.
The contest participants also visited the museum’s latest exhibition Carpet Art: Evolution of Meanings now on display.
