The Heydar Aliyev Foundation established 17 years ago on May 10, has made a huge contribution to the preservation of our national heritage and the successful implementation of cultural policy.​ The carpet weaving art is experiencing another revival period under the direction of Mehriban Aliyeva, First Vice-President of Azerbaijan, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The construction of our museum building, which became one of the symbols of Baku, the inclusion of carpet weaving and kelaghai art within UNESCO’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity are the result of successful activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the cultural field. In recent years, the Foundation has donated several rare world-class works of art to the museum, which has become an important cultural event.​
