Today is the birthday of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, architect of the independent Azerbaijani state, a world-famous political figure.

The great leader Heydar Aliyev, whose purpose throughout his life was to serve the people, our statehood, the economic, political and cultural development of our country, played an irreplaceable role in the creation of the world's first Carpet Museum.​ He​ personally attended the opening of the museum's exposition in 1972, and it was at his direction that​ funds were allocated to purchase exhibits for our museum.​ Heydar Aliyev paid special attention to the protection and promotion of carpet weaving art, one of the types of decorative and applied art of Azerbaijan in all periods of his political life.
