Carpet with a portrait of a scout
The Azerbaijan Carpet Museum’s collection boasts a rare and complex genre as portrait. One of them is Zorge carpet with a portrait of the famous scout, a native of Azerbaijan. The portrait of this historical person was depicted in the middle field, and in the cartouches of the border ‒ architectural sights, which are related to his life journey.
The author of the portrait carpet is a well-known artist Jafar Mujiri. And another well-known carpet artist Eldar Mikailzade, who kept this carpet for a while donated it to the museum. In due time, leaving for a family in Hungary for permanent residence, Jafar Mujiri gave him a few of his works including this carpet. And Eldar Mikailzadeh later transferred it to the museum.
