Carpet Khoruz-Nishan
Carpet as a Cultural Bridge. Let's take a closer look at the carpet Khoruz-Nishan from the current exhibition in the Russain Museum of Ethnography, Saint-Petersburg.
The red-colored central field depicts an image of a well-dressed horseman and a horse with a tied tail. It is surrounded by images of multi-colored roosters, crows, doves, and various plants. White rectangular medallions with a rooster inside are popularly called nishan (target).
The border, known among older craftsmen as mollabashi, encloses the central field with stripes of the su (water) ornament.
